Kevin Costner, how much you have done to hang my head. First Dragonfly, but I won't succumb to watching Robin Hood, Prince of Theives, I promise you that much. Guilty pleasures in watching Bull Durham, though. And what were you thinking about, teaming up with Ashton Kutcher? Leon's sent two young bucks to heft an old dryer out of the apartment, and bring in the first new appliance I've ever had. Granted, my sister paid for it. I'm sure, that if she's out of Native Housing before the dryer...

I've been reading books and watching movies lately, and perhaps because of the subject material, or just my own currrent frame of mind, I've had that one question whirling around upstairs. I like to read, but I sure don't like to spend a lot of money on something that I'm going to tear through in an hour or so. I got Out Of Silence at a reuse store: I should have been out 19.99 Cdn, but instead I only had to drop 3.99. I was in a hurry though, and I really didn't spend much time ...

I don't know why I'm so ticked off, because it's happened again, or because I'm still paying attention. Lucas wrote another article proclaiming pain and confusion, and like fleas to monkeys, there's a great hoopola about it all. Now, funnily enough, I'm still clicking links even while being slightly pissed off. It's a car wreck in motion, and I can't help but look. Did you know that, as last count, Joeuser has a total of 7206 registered users? You'd think I'd find somebody or some...

I'm excited because the new season of Lost is about to begin, and while I remember the fine friends here who are still not caught up because of where they live, I won't give any details away, except to say that if any one dies this season, it better not be Sawyer. I'm sad because I probably have to give up the Hulk jacket this year. I took my winter jacket out of storage the other day, and there it is: splotchy, ripped, and just sad looking. I could pay to get a new zipper put in,...

I don't know why I do these things, but I volunteered not only to look after my sister's girl, but a friend's son as well for the day. Duh. What was I thinking? Sundays are supposed to be lazy, relaxing days, but all I've gotten out of it today is a lot of noise and calamity. Three kids. I remember wanting more than just my girl. I wanted at least six of them, all different flavors. Now, though, I'm fairly settled, and Kole and I are doing just fine on our own. If I ever get the urg...

My first day on the job went okay. Interesting work, but also a hurry up and wait kind of process. The terminology was confusing, hence the title above, but I remembered some of it from past productions, so I wasn't a complete newbie. Truth? After sitting in a chair for more than 8 hours a day, it's going to take some gettting used to with all this running around. Rush across campus to get a boom box from AV, rush later to the other side for much needed coffee. The stage area is 3 floo...

I quit my job today, and it felt pretty good. I handed my headset and security badges over to my supervisor and she said 'no!' and I said 'yes', and not soon after, it was over. After saying good bye to some friends, I got a coffee and thought how good it was to be unemployed- at least until Monday, that is. My new job is going to be a sink-or-swimmer, and believe me, I'm doing practice laps already. I need to review/study/cram Aboriginal Theatre 101, so I can remember who's who. I als...

So, I am still waiting to meet with my prospective employer, and to find out about the salary. It's got me on the edge of my seat, but there really isn't anything that I can do to hurry the process. I'm to start this week, if everything can get signed and settled quickly which leaves me with a lot of hassle to deal with concerning my current employer. To make a long story short, I'm booked until the end of September, and it's business ettiquette to provide a full two weeks notice befo...

So they say life doesn't work out this way... I went to my favorite bar this morning, where they serve up some pretty fine coffee and have an excellent dish called "The Cowboy": 2 eggs over easy, homefries, pumpernickel toast and sausage. Delish. I had purchased the morning paper and was about to go out on deck for a morning cigarette when a girl I know asked me if I was still working at the call centre. I had to nod, and did so with a bit of a grimace; I was about to clock in, in...

Second last day of nights. I'm off at midnight, and I've got a couple of bucks in my pocket in case I want to go out for a pint afterwards. The wise owl would suggest saving it for tomorrow's last night, but I'm hesitating on that one. I can handle going out for a pint or two only, if I know I'm working the next day. If I have a day off the next day, I'm apt to get home at 6 am again. Decisions, decisions. TV or not TV? that is the question. I'm thinking of getting it again...

So, I'm still dizzy with this ear infection, but I've got some groovy little eardrops now that have at least cut back on the itching and constant high pitched noises. I do however have to plug 'em up with cotton balls and if that don't make me look sweet, nothing will. Add all that to a ginormous zit in the corner of my mouth, and the guys they come a' running. I'm having child difficulties. I can't seem to keep Kole in line without her sassing back at how I'm so mean, how I never let he...

In Native Studies class, a friend who was part Cree and part 'nish called us Canindians after a discussion on naming. It was a laugh, but also a bit depressing. The Native Studies department has since undergone it's own re-naming and is now known as the Indigenous Studies program. This type of program has also been known as Aboriginal studies, Indian studies, and First Nations Studies. Don't get me started on the various band names, clan names, non-Native references, and original la...

A hectic yesterday, involving a 45 minute rush job in making the house presentable for a worker to come in and test the fire alarms. I called the housing group after the previous night's fiasco, to report that my alarm was beating steadily every 5 minutes. I had resent the alarm, inserted a new battery, and it continued to emit a loud pinging noise. Now, I knew that after giving the details that housing would have to send a worker to check it out, and since the fire alarms are all in...

I have a great pair of capri jeans that fit excellently when right out of the dryer, and then, as the day progresses, become so loose that I'm almost losing my pants by then end of it all. Someone stole my lunch from the common fridges at work. I was both pissed off, and a bit relieved. It was a frozen tv dinner that included mystery meat loaf and instant mashed potatoes. I ended up having to buy my lunch at Mr Sub. Not so bad in retrospect. Riding my bike home this evening, 7 crui...

Lucky me that I don't have the stamina to do more than just one night of heavy drinking in a row. Pints of Creemore followed by some tasty Margaritas led to me flagging a cab at 6:30 this morning. Where did the night go? I strolled up to the bar with an US magazine in my back pocket. The bar was crowded, but I pulled up a stool like I always do, and read for a bit about the Britneys, Lindsays, and Buffys of some fake make believe world for awhile. I don't like to talk to anyone whe...
