Not too long ago, I posted a comment regarding satisfaction in blogging at JoeUser. I alluded to being 'not completely' satisfied quickly from the top of my head, and now, in retrospect, want to make ammendments to that comment.

The things that I am not happy about JoeUser are strictly from a National point of view. I live in Canada, or, in my eyes, Turtle Island. The Anishnaabe in me feels both a part of Canada and the US since there was no dividing lines and the continent was imaged as one. The Indian in me feels segregated from both countries. These beliefs, I feel, probably either wouldn't work well within the political arena here at JoeUser or just scanned easily and then ignored.

So, I searched for a bit one night, to see what was out there... to see if anything matched me more perfectly. I hit a couple of the blog sites listed to the right, and Googled for some more. Not having the tech knowhow to build my own website, I later understood that there really isn't anything out there specifically for me. Or, rather, here is something here, if I choose to do it.

The positive points about JoeUser is that I do feel a part of this community. I rarely sprout off about my Aboriginality, or at least, do not delve too much in depth about it. Well, I'm taking off my coat and boots and am going to make myself at home. I don't feel it necessary to proclaim my identity at every possibility, but I don't think I'll be shy about it either, anymore.

You see, I like reading about other people's differences and perspectives. I rarely see any from the Aboriginal point of view, but mostly, that's because not a lot of people write from that perspective. That's the downside of being downsized. Anyway... I'd be interested in hearing about other people's backgrounds, too. I like the kicks that we, as a community, have been on, but it'd be cool to hear about where other people's hearts reside.

they say that there is no such thing as a 100% Aboriginal Canadian anymore... so far that I can ascertain, it goes back many generations on both sides. I'm from Wasauksing First Nation, in Ontario, Canada.

I'm Cherokee and Irish, proud of both, but definitely feel the Cherokee blood the most. My father was Cherokee. I'm from a band that hid from the Trail of Tears. We ended up in encampment by the Kanawha River, but all ended up going their seperate ways. There used to be a reunuion we went to when I was little in Hancock County. A bunch of the women smoked corn cob pipes. And I'm rambling, huh? I think rambling hits when you reach 40.

Thanks for telling us a little about your heritage. It would be very interesting for you to point out why you see things in a different way. All of us wear different sets of lens in which we view the world. My "culture" is my religious faith. I am a Christian and have been to many different types of churches. I haven't been able to commit to one particular church for various reasons, but am an ecletic Christian. So I can enjoy the company of other ecletics, even though they aren't Christian.
