My sister told me a story about a woman she met in the park. My sister remarked on her daughter's straight brown hair that was waist-length, the same as my neice. While their daughters played in the wading pool, the woman told her about her used-to-be friend and neighbour.
Turns out that the neighbour had offered to babysit sit for the woman one day while she did some shopping. When the woman got back to pick up her daughter, she found out that while she was gone, the used-to-be friend and neighbour had went and purchased a home perm kit and attempted to give the woman's child a perm as a surprise. The perm didn't turn out, however, and because of the weight of the hair only the ends of it appeared to be curly.
Now, after my sister had told me this, I was in shock. What kind of person would dare to give somebody else's kid a perm? I mean, it's not called a 'permanent' for nothing.
Obviously, the woman felt the same way. She expressed her anger politely, but heatedly to the used-to-be friend and neighbor. And what she do in return? She didn't apologize, she took revenge for her hurt feelings.
Well, turns out that the woman who told the story to my sister, also fostered children in her home. So the used-to-be friend and neighbour called the CAS (children's aid society) on her, stating that the kids were going unfed, and were not being properly cared for.
Is that sick or what?
So, CAS calls the woman, warns her that they will be over for a home visit in 48 hours. The woman demands that they arrive immediately to assess her home. Of course, it all turns out well; she wasn't negligent, and all the children were well-fed and cared for. CAS assures her that her used-to-be friend and neighbour will be dealt with properly; they take these things seriously, all accusations must be investigated, fake accusations will be met with inspections, and notification of other authorities.
The woman took her daughter to a hairdresser who managed to make things right, and interaction between the two women are prohibited.
More and more often, however, arguements, disagreements and revenge result in this type of behaviour. And I just can't stop shaking my head.
