things i've been thinking about...

I've been thinking about switching back to the nightshift. I worked it last October, and ended up dropping it because I wasn't sleeping enough. Nights started at 10:00pm and ended at 6:30am. Back then, I was going back to my parents' home to wake up Kole, get her ready for school, take her, and then wake up in time to pick her back up. Unfortunately, I was finally getting home around 9:00, getting to sleep around 9:30- 10:00 and then trying to wake up at 2:30 to pick her up for 3:00pm. On good days, I was getting 5 hrs of sleep, on bad days only about 4.

After speaking to my parents about it, I've decided to apply again because it means more money. While it's busy all the time at work, there's fewer people on the night crew and the pace suits me better. Most of the people that I was originally hired with on night crew are still there. Nowadays, there's only new faces on the floor during days. There's also a premium for night shifts that helps out a bit, and, with their approval, I'm now only needed to pick her up at 3:30. If I'm lucky, I'll at least 7 hours of sleep, and that would do. I've been considering all the pros and cons, and the end result is that I want to save money. Teacher's College isn't going to be cheap. That's the biggest factor for me right now.

I've been listening to a lot of 70's music. Songs that I never thought I knew the words to, I know off by heart simply because my parents' used to listen to it while us kids were growing up. My smalltown radio station is a classic rock station. Oh the number of times I've heard the words "...life for me is a riverboat fantasy..." or "...she said we are all just prisoners here, of our own device.." Screw the 80's. I'm over it. I'm signing up for a mullet any day now.

Anti-Prose was started by JeremyG Link and it's been dying a slow death. We've extremely talented writers, but unfortunately some have stopped posting. While I miss em all, I do believe that anyone who likes that sort of thing should try posting more often. I love reading everybody's articles, but I yearn for the kind of writing that makes me go "oh... yeah!" or moves me to tears. So often I find that kind of writing there.
