First off, I'm not about to start that endless debate about smokers vs. non-smokers and the right to do it. Yes, it's an awful habit, there are harmful effects to smoker and non-smoker alike, and I know it is a waste of time, money, and energy. It's not cool. It's downright stupid. Having covered those bases, I'd like to have my say by making a few points (and it ain't nice, considering that this is pointed at my fellow smokers):

I hate people who bum cigarettes. I don't mind giving them out to a few of my good friends. In times of need, they've been there for me as much as I have for them. I do mind being asked by people who never seem to have a cigarette, even though I know that they smoke as much as I do. I know you smoke. I know you never have them. I know that I'm not the only one who you ask on a regular basis. We all know. You cheap bastard.

It's an expensive habit. You tossing me a quarter doesn't mean a thing. Well, if it means anything, it just means that you don't want to look too bad doing it. If I could buy cigarettes at the corner store for a quarter, I'd point you in that direction. You know that's not how it works. By the time I've collected all your quarters throughout all the time I've known you, smokes will go up another buck or two. Are you a cheap bastard too, or just too lazy to go to the corner store?

Don't even try being sneaky about it. Asking me if you can try one of my cigarettes is a crock of shit. I don't smoke menthols (which is the only reason why you might want to try it out, because you're used to 'normal' ones). They're no more special than the ones that you smoke. Since you are always bumming, you don't even have a brand of your own. Leave me, and my smokes, alone.

I can barely afford my habit, let alone yours. I find it sad that its always the people with good jobs who want to bum one. I'm the one on a low budget. Nine times out of ten, it's the people who make way more money than I do who are doing the asking. Spend your big bills on a pack, and I'll collect my loonies and twonies for mine.

Just because you don't carry smokes, it doesn't make you a non-smoker. Call yourself a social smoker, one who just needs one when you have a drink, whatever. You're not fooling anyone. I know how much you smoke, and damn it, you're one of us. At least have the courage to admit that you do.

I realize I'm ranting. I'm just pissed. I'd calm down if I wasn't out of smokes. And all because of you people. Why do I give out smokes then? Just stupid, I guess.

Hear hear. I resorted to carrying two packs around when I go out, one for myself and one for the scabs. I'm so pissed with myself that I didn't manage to quit back in January...lasted all of 8 days :/
