I'm not saying that Ben Affleck is the best actor in the world. Not at all. He's been in a handful of movies that I have seen, and while he hasn't stood out in any spectacular way, I have realized that he was there. I teared up in Pearl Harbour, but that's probably because of Josh, and bawled in Good Will Hunting because of Matt, but I wasn't even cheering because of Ben's heroics in Armegeddon, but because it was finally over. But nothing has been his fault or to his credit.
No,my problem with Ben is that he's everywhere. He's in every celebrity magazine, but worse, he's been in a lot of non-celeb media forums. My bloody city paper lists his daily activities now, and we're not even Americans!
Ben, if you want to get married to Jen, be my guest. If you don't, that's fine, too. But for god's sake, give your publicist a break! Don't alert the media everytime you feel the need to whine about your relationship and how it's the media at fault.
There are a lot of famous people out there. Famous people who have managed to live their lives without having it shoved down innocent people's throats. Yeah, the media can be relentless and intrusive. However, I think there comes a time to realize when someone is feeding the machine.
I'm not planning on seeing any of Ben's movies in the future. But if this goes on much longer, I'm going out of my way not to.
