Why MY FAVORITES is all good.
Published on November 11, 2004 By crimson In Blogging
Every couple of months or so, I try to encourage anyone who bothers to read my blog, to made/add to/update their My Favorites section. I find that it is very useful, especially to people with slower ISPs/dialup, because the forums is a bitch to load in a hurry. Of course, if you've got a lot of photos on your blog, having you on My Favorites is a bit of a bitch, too.

So, if you care, this is my navigation path at the moment, and the only reason why it isn't any longer is because most people don't list people that they read, or don't know how to do so (but that's another story, and it's a bugger to explain, too.)

It goes without saying that, after skimming the Front Page, I head straight to MY BLOG. Because, after all, it is all about me.

1. I then click on Macky's link to see if he's posted any new poetry or has something new to rant on about. Then, I use his My Favorites to go to:

2. Suspeckted's. I check out his poetry and 'different' articles, and then use his My Favorites to head on over to:

3. Mignuna's. Miggy's takes awhile, because there's always good shit to read, but when I'm done, I use her My Favorites to head on over to:

4. Marco's/notsohighlyevolved. After I've given my brain a workout, I then use his My Favorites and go to:

5. Muggaz's. There, I leave petty, useless comments and using his My Favorites, head over to:

6. Shadesofgrey. And this is where the buck stops, because she doesn't provide anyone else's link from my own My Favorites list.

From that point on, I go back to MY BLOG and start clicking on the other links in My Favorites.
Notice a pattern? Good. Now get busy.

Uh oh--I'm the weak link? I need to rectify that!

At one point I had a bunch on my favorites list, but somehow deleted them when I went to add more--now I only have people I know in real life. Maybe I'll get to editing it today!

Hehehe, sorry about singling you out! But, usually from yours, I slide on over to Dharma's, Jill's LittleWhip's, Danny's, and BlueDev's. What used to take an hour (to do the rounds on the site) is now taking up to three, depending on how much time I have and the last time I visited. Oh... my life. Happy Belated, shades!

No problem...I recommend checking out Soupy's blog from mine--he doesn't post often, but when he does, his stuff is class!

Thanks for the bday wishes!

I've thought about adding peoples blog to the my favorites thing, but like little whip mentioned, i'm afraid i'd leave out someone important and hurt their feelings. That and the irrational fear that i'd just mess up filling out the forms and have all sorts of broken links
As for your using others favorites to hop around, well i open multiple windows, which might help you avoid the having to go back to your blog problem, if it is indeed a problem. Course, i tend to start from the new articles and open up everything that is new since i was last here...

as ive applied to an online college

I wish you good luck LW

As far as my navigation of the site, Well it's like my thoughts completly ramdom.

I start up on my site, check for responses (that doesn't take long ) then move to my "Blogs I Dig" links. While not comprehensive, that is the list of folks I try to read regularly. I then scan the most recent articles, then move to the forums and try to make it all the way down to the bottom, hitting ones that catch my eye.

I go to my favorites and then go to their favorites who are also on my favorites list--and that's how I branch out and meet new blogs, too: I go to their favorites who are not my favorites. It's logical, right? Someone whose blog I enjoy reading will have something in common with someone else's blog that I haven't read....? I think I can do BlueDev, Raven, historyishere, Muggaz, and Shades in that order (or close to it) before I start using the back button or clicking elsewhere.

Nifty blog idea.

I'm #2 at something! That rocks, this is probably the most flattering thing I'm going to hear all week...and it's only Monday. Thanks for showing us how you map out your travels through JU, I picture a thick dashed line tracing your steps like Billy in Family Circus...God I hate that damn Family Circus.

There, I leave petty, useless comments

Hmm...that probably sums up my comments on everyone's blogs I visit.

have a good week,
