I don't know when he started, but his bad habit is now becoming mine.

My father used to be wholesome. That is, if he was in between meals, he'd eat an apple, munch on a banana, or cut up some watermelon slices. These days, he has a not-so-secret stash by the computer. A bag of Doritos, a container of pretzels, and another cellophane wrapped bunch of candy. He's got peanuts upstairs, and I'm convinced that he bought double the Halloween candy because he wanted some, too.

His habit of leaving this stuff lying around, while not going to be my downfall, but will be the reason for another 2 pounds around the middle, is impossible to avoid. A taste here, a nibble there, and the next thing you know, I'll be up a size. The thing is, is that since working nights, I have no real eating schedule. I try to bring my lunch to work, but by 3am I'm too nauseated to eat, and when I get home in the morning, I generally just try to go straight to bed. Even when I wake up, is usually only an hour or so until dinner that I decide to hold off. I'm counting here, and I can see that I rarely even eat a regular meal at decent intervals... but man, can I snack.

I know that this is becoming a bit of a problem. Maybe writing it out will force me to acknowledge the concern that I never expressed until now.

Well working overnight is certainly not helping, I had the same problems when I did that too, and now 7 years later (after working days for 7 years), nothing has changed, try to avoid getting into the habit of eating like that, it is not healthy and a really hard habit to break once it gets ingrained into you.
