For several days now, I've been vacillating between blogsites. I have one at LJ which is discontinued, simply because I've forgotten my bloody password. I enjoyed using the site, because the support and styles offered to personalize my blog was excellent. I started one at blogspot, and again, its fallen by the wayside because I wasn't doing anything different there than I do here at Joeuser. Lastly, I've been starting to form one at modblog, simply because some of my favorite bloggers are there, and I like the idea of continuing an interaction.
But the real problem here is this; I'm sick of ignoring things that make me upset, here. Frankly, I'd much sooner rather start somewhere new, than have to listen/read to the bullshit between people. Having said that, I love Joeuser and find it pretty easy to avoid conversations that I'm sure would get me into trouble if I really spoke my mind about the topic at hand. I really don't want to offend anyone, and can handle holding my tongue rather than hurt somebody's feelings.
I think that there are several reasons why I still remain at Joeuser, though.
Firstly, I am really looking forward to seeing further improvements to Joeuser being made. Once I get my own, properly functioning computer, I intend to download the Blog Navigator to check it out. I also would like to see the benefits of becoming a paying customer at Joeuser. While I do realize that the opportunity to blog here is out of the goodness of people's hearts, I would rather enjoy being a supporting member of this community. As long as they take Canadian funds.
Secondly, I enjoy the interaction with some of the friends that I've made here. People can bitch about 'the sisterhood' any way they want. What is simple is this: I take great pride in communicating with women my own age. We have different political views, different lifestyles, and different belief systems, but its been great to be able to bond together through this medium. Fuck anybody who wants to put one giant label on a group of women and challenge our friends with petty name calling and threats.
As much as I hate writing about politics, it's interesting to see the American perspective. While I have no great love for government, I understand the necessity for it. When I first signed up on Joeuser, I wasn't aware about how political a place this could be. By the time I found out how American it was, I was hooked anyway. I tend to write my own thing, and for the most part do not follow threads listed by people who are fond of the subject. If something catches my eye and is written in a way that motivates me to respond, it's not because I'm taking sides. Generally, I just applaud anyone who writes with style, honesty and passion. I don't necessarily agree with everyone's own personal politics, but I respect anyone who can write about it and catch my interest.
Lastly, I have a lot of favorite writers. The blogs listed on the right of my own site are blogs that I read regularly, but I'm not much of an updater. In fact, it's apparent that even when I do update, I end up wiping out other people's blog names on my list accidentally. No, there just isn't enough room to mention all the writers that I enjoy here. But this is a start. I kind of wish other people would list their favorite writers as well, though. If people that I like, like other people's stuff and mention it, I usually turn out to be a fan as well.
So, here I am, travelling blogsites here and there, everywhere. Joeuser is still the place I call home though, apparently.
