and then scream...

I hate dealing with student loan representatives. I hate the fact that they hire people who, seemingly, have no clue how to answer a phone, write down a number, and update it into the relevant computer system.

Due to an error that they acknowledge is their own fault, they have withdrawn 75% of the money that I live on for a whole month. Of course, they assure me that they will refund my money, conveniently directly depositing that money straight back into my account. But, this will happen in 13-15 business days.

Bastards.

After a whole shitload of service charges (which they say they will reverse, but it hasn't happened yet), Kole and I had less than 10 dollars to live on, as of last Tuesday. Of course, we are literally counting pennies now.

Why can they withdraw money in seconds, but take so damned long in returning it? Are they going to pay me the interest on that?!

The good thing is that I get my first work check on Friday, and we won't be broke for long, but still.... The worst thing about this is this: when dealing with such a gigantic entity that handles Canada Student Loans you get pretty used to submitting information when necessary, immediately. You also know to make follow up calls, make photocopies of all the stuff that you do send them, and keep detailed tabs on who has answered your calls, the time, date, and action took. I've got a book that I keep that details all of this stuff, in fact.

They have it too. They have computer memo forms to mark contact with clients that detail all the stuff that I just wrote about.

Which makes it all the more infuriating that the best that they did was to say, "I understand that you are upset and I am sorry that you feel this way, but we still can't refund your money any faster."

I pride myself that I didn't explode, however. I simply acknowledged my disapppointment in what had happened... after all, it wasn't that particular operator's fault that this had happened. But I wonder how often she, and other people in her position get yelled at just because it's part of their job to answer the phone.

I did want to, though. I was, and still am, ready to explode.

Bureucracy at it's finest. Amazing how slowly the wheels turn when YOU need them to, isn't it?
