Lately, here and elsewhere, there's been a lot of grumbling about what may or may not be good for the community. If only it were so simple to just cast someone aside, send them to their corners until the forums have time to settle a bit. But we all know that it starts back up almost immediately, so what's the point?
I imagine a Joeuser with a polling system, that has a poll that goes around continuously:
For the good of the community the following person should be exiled:
A: Little Whip
B: Jennifer1
C:Iconoclast
D: who cares.
* To be fair, these names were used, though I've lost sight of the whole thing, after being away for more than 48 hrs. Please don't update me on the current situation, thanks. These names could be switched up with half a dozen others, with no real difference in outcome.
My views on the community are irrelevant. After being here for some time now, and reading Brad's, Karma's, Zoomba's and any other moderator's view, the scenario is the same. Quiet. Slight confrontation. Full-scale war. Dust settles. Repeat.
I think, that for the most part, the only good thing for the community is for most of us to just mind our own business. Read a lot. Write a lot. Ignore the commotion at the back of the bus. When it gets personal, the last thing someone needs is others weighing in on a situation that really doesn't need it at that time. We all know who our friends are around here. And while I always want to be supportive during trying times, often, my words just add fuel to the fire.
Just a few thoughts, put forth out there now that the dust appears to have settled.
