Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head.

Summer in the City by The Lovin' Spoonful (John Sebastian - Mark Sebastian - Steve Boone)

I've got city legs.

We walked everywhere. We went to Kensington Market and Chinatown, the ROM and the AGO, and did the touristy thing at the CN Tower. (I swear, I almost barfed from that.) It cost a pretty penny and was hotter than Hades, but we had a blast. I can pick out little perfect moments, but mostly it was just of us walking hand in hand, pointing out new and interesting things to each other. We took the subway too, which was a first for my girl, and I could tell from her expression that she was saving everything up in her mind for later.

Yeah, it was hot though. We dropped almost 10.00 on water alone, even though we had filled our water bottles with good old Peterborough water before we left. The bus ride in was long but exciting for her. Not a week before I bought an old Sony Walkman with dual headset ports. We drove to the city listening to New Order, The Psychedelic Furs and The Cure. Good times, for sure.

My sister and I have made plans to go to The Pig tonight, followed by a bit of dancing at the Sapphire. We're loading up on Rum and Cokes and after mixing my first drink tonight, I realize how lame we both are. We bought a twenty-sixer of Rum during Christmas break. We're not even half way through it, and have had at a crack at the bottle at least five times already. So much for heavy drinking. We were going to set out early but she protested stating that she didn't want to be dead before ten. Her tolerance level isn't quite up to mine, I guess.

My sister bought a disc of Duran Duran's greatest hits, and with it, came a DVD of their best videos. Man, nostalgia is wonderful. I can't believe how much in love I was with life at the time. I was somewhat conscious that my teen years were to be used to the max. I wasn't the type to stress out too much about grades, though I did make them. I didn't stress out much about boys, either, so I saved myself a lot of heartache. I wasn't much into drugs, but I tried some, and I liked to drink, but I wasn't hardcore, yo. I loved the music of my time, though. New wave was it, alternative music, they said it was. Duran Duran was never the heaviest, nor the most eclectic, but watching the videos, they were definitely one of the definitive bands of the era. Much Music/MTV wouldn't have been the same without em. I was between 11 and 16 when their best stuff was done, and I suppose they were my band to my mother's Elvis Presley. I used to wonder what group my girl would fall for, and so far, she's got some pretty good groups that she likes. She was enthralled with the videos, and the crazy outfits. Ah... the eighties.

I still haven't seen X-Men. I've been avoiding the blogs and reviews about the flick, I just want to be pleasantly surprised, but I really don't want to be let down, either.

To hell with body self-consciousness. I vow for the summer that I won't shy away from sleeveless tops, shorts or bathing suits. I'm not much of a girl in that respect, but I've been wearing the same bathing suit for a decade now, and it's time for a bit of adventure. I'm not going for a string bikini, short shorts, or belly-baring shirts, but I vow to get out of the baggy t-shirts and jeans. I cut all my hair off. It's short, spikey, and a mixture of wild colours.

Changes, little and big. Nothing like starting summer off right.

That is the sign of adulthood!  I gave up worrying about how bad my legs looked when I turned 30.  Shorts are now the dress of the day. From May to September.

Ahh, take me back to that Ordinary World. Remember that one? I had forgotten all about Duran Duran...

Glad you had a good time. Have a great summer!

The thing about this is to just go with no expectation and have fun watching it. It's not Shakespear or something like that. To heck with the critics!!

I have seen it.  You will be pleasantly surprised.  Or you wont.  How is that for a review?
