where would you be?

You know, after reading several blogs devoted to sharing life experiences, nominating particular bloggers for different reasons for a Joeuser award ceremony that will probably never be held in a person to person format, it got me thinking about a similar sort of gathering: that of a Joeuser reunion.

After we got the boring details sorted out, like the actual reunion committee, decision of where to hold the event, cost, hotel rooms, music, bar, etc., we get down to the actual social aspect of it all.

I've had times of shyness, but I feel comfortable enough to think that I could face entering a party without visually 'knowing' anyone. I might have tried to diet a bit and have gotten a new haircut or smashing outfit, but I don't think I would go overboard in that area. 'I yam who I yam' as someone more animated may have said. I think I would scan everybody's HELLO MY NAME IS name tag, and probably just grin widely at the first person's name that I recognized. Hopefully, it would be someone that I feel like I really know, and our enivitable conversation and laughter would draw more more people nearby, to see what was going on.
I don't want to post the name of every single person that I'd be interested in striking up a real conversation with: you all know who you are... hopefully. I'm sure, that I'll feel that way about other people too, who are new to our little community. That's just the way it seems to be working, anyway.

At least, that's how I feel tonight. But I'm sure some of the people that we all might be interested in meeting might just have vetoed the idea altogether. Stayed home, rented a movie, or made other plans with other 'real' friends.

The funny thing about this crazy little blog is that there are parts of me that wish it could become a reality. And then there's that other part that thinks: hey, stuff like this never happens. Blog communities getting together, meeting face to face.

If it does happen in some far off future, someone let me know, huh?

I've actually thought about that at different times too Nic, so you're not the only one. I don't know that it would ever happen, just cause it would be kinda expensive, especially for anyone that didn't live in the country that it was held in... but it sure would be fun.

of course, I'm kinda partial to the idea of meeting on a ship... as in, a cruise in the Caribean (sp?)...

or we can just hold it at your house Nicky... hehehe

as a side note, I think it would be fun to go without the nametags... imajine how much fun it would be to try n figure out who was who just by talking to 'em...

Actually I was part of a writing community that did have a convention. They supposedly had a lot of fun. But it was expensive. Some of the people I'd love to see probably couldn't afford it. But its a good dream anyway.

I'd be there if it happened...

I'd probably have to beg my mom to let me go but I'm sure I could go and maybe I could actually meet my faction friends while I'm at it. I have no idea what they look like either so I'd have a blast. And I think if we had nametags that it would have to be with our user names or a twist to them like I could be Mr. Cornbread and We'd have Ms. Dharma and well I think we'd have to leave Muggaz as Muggaz for safety reasons. I'd also like to see what changes would be made to Sir Peter Henry Maxwell IV. Would he get two name tags so he could fit his name or what? And I think we should have the reunion at his mansion he showed us. I think it would be large enough.

Capt. over and out! ™

Use Gnomedex as a place to meet.  It's basically a big, organized party in a cheap area to stay: http://www.gnomedex.com/

If you are not familiar with LockerGnome, it's a great tech site: http://www.lockergnome.com/

I've been party of many online community gatherings.   From the old BBS days, to modern MMOPRG's.   I usually go to them i find them interesting.  My criteria is that they have to be within a 4 hour drive from me.

I am all for a party/reunion but the stickler is always getting someone to organize it. I organized my first class reunion. Has anyone stepped up since? No. I like KharmaGirl's idea about Gnomedex! I've never been to NV.
