the pleasures brought forth via the internet

I love 80s music, but don't have a wide collection of retro music. I'm not big on hitting TheTrash on 80's nite, simply because the patrons look as if they were born in the 80's only.

Yet, there's this great 80's station that I've found through Windows Media Player that's just great. It's like listening to radio of my day. I remember when OMD's If You Leave (Don't Leave Now) was on my local radio station for over a month and a half at number 1. Give me Michael Jackson's album Thriller, and I'll know every single word and dance move. (yes, even the moonwalk.) This radio station has been playing The GoGo's We got The Beat, Oh Mickey, and even some good old Cure.

This is pure bliss on the Internet, and I don't even have to shield my computer screen when someone walks by.

Tainted Love was by Soft Cell....

You never mentioned Duran Duran I had such a huge crush on Simon Le Bon when I was 14.......

Here's some that I remember..
'How soon is now' The Smiths
'Love will tear us apart' Joy Division
'Take on me' A Ha
'Everybody wants to rule the world' Tears For Fears

I could go on and on.......I'm always happy to watch VH1's 'I love the 80's'..makes me feel like a teenager again (and saying that made me feel really, really old)

"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is a great song. And let us not forget "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners, and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" by Wang Chung. Haha, fucking Wang Chung!! WANG CHUNG!! They rule. Sort of.

I forgot all about Wang Chung until you said their name...now I'm ear-wormed with that freakin' song....thanks!

Man, now I'm off on a nostalgia trip.......Depeche Mode.....The Clash.....The Alarm....ooohhh! The Cult! 'She Sells Sanctuary' ! Yeah!!!! I saw them live at the Oxford Apollo.......and who could forget Motorhead! Lemmy was fucking awesome......

Cars by Gary Numan is a very intoxicating song for me.

I'm wondering what this radio station is....

What are the 80s ?

on Mar 13, 2004
"I Get My Kicks Above The Waistline, Sunshine" Ahhh, One Night In Bangkok. I wonder where I put my Chess coundtrack CD....

Internet radio's good for finding what you want. The country station in this backwater is atrocious, so I found one on the 'net to listen to. Good stuff.

Speaking of the 80's. Has anyone seen those "I Love the 80s" specials on VH1? It's like being in a time machine.

I love the song "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby, and "Major Tom" by Peter Schilling. I also remember doing the "Time-Warp Dance" and shunned anyone who would admit to liking ABBA. Who would have predicted that they would have been the group of the decade? And Dharma? I do remember Duran Duran, but felt that same embarassment in admitting so. Ahhhh... Roger Taylor.

yeahhh......he's married and lives on a farm now, apparently.

Remember Adam and the Ants? Adam has 'lost the plot' so to speak; he was in court a couple of months ago for brandishing a firearm and making death threats whilst stripped down to his knickers in a cafe in England.

Howard Jones....he lived about 25 miles away from me. I named my cat 'Howard in his honor'...

Kajagoogoo. I remember desperately wanting Limahl's hair and being devastated when my Mum said no.

Simple Minds. 'Don't you Forget About Me'....man, I could go on for ages.

The Bangles are one of my favorite 80s bands. "Eternal Flame" and "Walk Like An Egyptian" are required listening for me.
Depeche Mode - "Enjoy The Silence," "Personal Jesus"
And the Go-Go's "Vacation" is also one of my favorites.
