while cruising the downtown scene
Published on March 11, 2004 By crimson In Blogging
Blame it on the weather, but during warm, sunny days, I've been spending a fair amount of time just hanging out downtown, getting a glimpse of life.

Maybe it's the bright, vivid colors of clothing that were unavailable for viewing during bulky coat days, but I've also been spending a fair amount of time looking in the female direction. I don't know if it is genetics or not, to be attracted to brightly colored things, but color me surpised to be checking out anybody at all... that's not usually my style. Is it fashion that is dictating my wandering eye? There seems to be a great many different hues of orange, lately. And bright colors like pink and yellow have been reintroduced into my normally monochromatic line of sight.

I wonder why more men fail to embrace the variety of colors? Colors like blue and red and green are the norm, and occasionally purple, too. But aside from that limited period that was brought forth through a mediocre television program called Miami Vice, you don't see too many men choosing different colors into their wardrobe. Crockett and Tubbs may have set the scene, but it was evacuated rather quickly.

Maybe it's just the area that I live in; a lowly populated, insular town, that prohibits a greater audience with greater choices reflected, but I wonder... how many people have a variety of colors in their wardrobe? Why do you fail to embrace such variety?
What colors really strike your fancy, get your motor going, make you go hmmmm?

I have very few color; my wardrobe tends to gravitate towards white, grey, black, and the occasional safe solid color (i.e. dark green). My sense of style is so underdeveloped that any other attempts at fashion end inevitably in disaster.

I like cute girls whatever they're wearing. It's like a pillow for the eyes... unless you're staring at places you shouldn't be, in which case it's anything but a pillow

it's funny that you mentioned about staring in places that you shouldn't. Have you ever been caught staring at someone like that, but have not even realized that you were doing so? I checked out my best friend the other day, purely by accident. We were in the middle of a pool game, she was reaching across to take a shot, and I just happened to look at her, stretched out, and caught myself at it. I wasn't even thinking about her, but plotting my strategy for the next move. It must have looked bad, though.

I LOVE purple!   I have one nice dress shirt that is a bright/deep purple color.  I regularly get jokes about being gay when I wear it.  Guy's shouldnt wear yellow though, just never looks right.

So is this a new appreciation you think?  or just a passing phase?

Any guy who wears a pink shirt....I'm just like ....I find it so attractive to be bold.

And pink accentuates many things...it makes guys good attributes stand out....I think anyway.

Most people disagree, as with most things I say.

Dark Green is good too. (my fav color)

My friend has this shirt that he loves, but is afraid to wear it. It's got a different cut sleeve, but you really couldn't call it flouncy. Yellow on guys... I've seen some wear it, but usually in the retro 70's style. You know, old school Adidas style, but nothing so striking as a full-colored dress shirt. As far as appreciating goes- who couldn't appreciate a member of the opposite sex's outstanding fashion sense? Or just downright attractiveness? Marvin, maybe... but really...

I have worn pink shirts.  In fact it's oddly a decent look being a long-hair and in a pink shirt.  Something about the style cross seems to just "make it work" in an odd way.   Been a long time since I've had one though, maybe i'll try one on next time i'm shopping.

I find guys wearing pink shirts an excessively cliche way of being "against the norm."

i had a pink shirt that I wore with a pair of baby blue pants in high school... i wouldn't be caught dead in either nowadays...

I wear almost nothing but Wranglers and my cowboy boots... usually with a T-Shirt unless i'm going somewhere nice... the only variation from that is when I wear my overalls...

my favorite color is Purple, but like Jeremy, I hesitate to wear it, since I don't want people calling me gay...

my weakness is a woman dressed in sexy lingerie... in most any color...

It's funny, but from where I'm from, if you wear overalls, you would most likely get a whole lot of people calling you gay. Maybe that's just geography.. but it's the truth!
ps. Wear what you want to wear. You are the one that matters in your life... not people who would judge you on the basis of clothing!

Me: Lot of purple (my favorite color), a pink dress shirt I wear a lot, white. I have a cool multi colored shirt I like because it looks like it's been splattered with paint. If I'm layering, the top layer is usually blue.

On women: Red does it for me. Yep, red. Solid black is nice at times, too.

Jeremy, that gets a hug.

Dan, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say noth'n at all.
